We're talking seriously strong players here. Hikaru decides to let Sai play, but only if he plays as though he had a 15 point handicap in order to make his style unrecognizably aggressive and reckless. The effort needed to be consistent at the top level in classical is a huge toll, and I don't think he has the constitution needed.Īs I said earlier, isn't a case of him being bad but just other players being better. Caruana and Ding have led a pack of players that represent serious competition. He has had some seriously good results though (you don't get North of 2800 without such), but I think he just wasn't able to keep it up as his opposition steadily improved. He is nicknamed 'Gorilla Man' because of his large size and loud voice. Tsubaki is very loud, aggressive, and intimidating, once having an outburst after a stranger doesn't respond when spoken to. Much respect to Hikaru for converting after that move It was no easy task for White, even after the blunder. But he probably thought he was winning no matter what he did, so Qf5 is understandable. Hikaru was gravely injured before he found that Goban, now a soulless body kept alive by machines. They seemed nice, even though they couldnt understand you. All Xiong had to do was bring his bishop back one square (to g7). Its okay, you made friends with that boy and that girl from school yesterday. It seemed like he would have a breakthrough after he won Wijk Aan Zee in 2010, but he just never seem to be able to push on (finished 5th in 2011 I think). Toshiro Tsubaki ( Tsubaki Toshir) - An older go player who applied for the Go test. Hikaru flashed a cocky grin at the former Meijins son, snapping the longer-haired boy out of his thoughts. Hikaru was completely lost at move 25, though. It occasionally happens that a player can have a string of good results and have a jump in rating, but usually they become the cannon fodder for tournaments with top ten players in the mix. To me it looks a like a case of he is a good player, but there are other players that have gotten better. 12 has Hikaru playing against Toya Mejin, and also attending a go fair and meeting a dishonest seller of go. That sounds like he is talking bollocks to be honest. This is a great entry in the Hikaru No Go series.
